![]() ![]() At amp breakup, the combination has picking dynamics, light for clean, harder for crunch and hardest for distortion, with a Telecaster. I also stack the BSV2 into a Green Rhino MKII and or Red Llama MKII and 25th. The Barbershop V2, stacks into a Barber Direct Drive V1, for Marshall crunch and leads. The Jan Ray is approx 10% of the range of the Timmy, which is more cost effective. I also have a Red Llama MKII and 25th, at the end of overdrives, to add Hudson Broadcast double pedal like, light and aggressive fuzz sounds. I stack an EQD Hoof into the Timmy V1, with Jan Ray settings and Boss RV-3, plate delay, for Ariel Posen's slide tone. The Soundspeed can be stacked into the Barbershop V2, for an enhanced clean sound. The Soundspeed, cleans up with lowered volume and adds a 3D like effect to the sound. Both are touch and picking dynamics sensitive, for clean and crunch. I am using the Soundspeed and Barbershop V2, as preamps, stacking into overdrives. Biggest things are ability to cleanup with volume knob and don't cut bass.Further to my previous post, I now have on my board, a Boss CP-1X compressor, Soundspeed, a Lightspeed inspired, but it's own sound, Barbershop V2, Diamond Counterpoint delay and a Timmy V1, set to Jan Ray settings. Use a myriad of guitar and amp types so would want something that works well with most combinations (guessing a transparent overdrive would do). Again, pleasing but show an obvious mid-oriented footprint. Even the mythical Klone's to me aren't transparent. They can/do sound pleasing but objectively alter the EQ in a big way. Tried many Bluesbreaker and TS types and to me they are not transparent at all. What are people using or have compared with a lightspeed? The closest I've come to a good alternative is the Menatone Red Snapper but didn't find it to have great volume knob cleanup. I'm talking like going from 10 to 7 on a strat's volume knob and I get a clean sound, even with some medium level picking. I really like OD's that I can control with the volume knob to cleanup (like a fuzz face). However, my issue with it is that it hits a weird high-mid frequency thing for me that affects the attack that I don't really bond with. I know the Greer Lightspeed is beloved and can see why. ![]() I've been on the hunt for a "transparent" overdrive (light OD at most) and have tried a few. Greer Black Fuzz (works a lot like a Fuzz Face, a favorite) Maybe a Simplexity (never tried but some rave about it)Ĭoppersound Strategy Boost (haven't tried but interested expensive, presumably because of cosmetics) Mulder X-1 (cool underknown pedal buy used for re-sale) Tronographic Boxidizer has a hugely powerful EQ section (maybe my favorite OD pedal? ridiculous range from boost through thrashy mayhem)Ĭoloursound Overdriver variant - I really like the Monsterpiece COD at 18V (has a powerful EQ) ![]() Greer Sonic Boom (great cleanish boost, a favorite) Greer Black Fuzz (works a lot like a Fuzz Face, a favorite, roll your volume knob back for chimey cleans, use a carbon battery and run it first) Greer Tone Smuggler (a favorite after a buffer)ĭiamond Compressor at elevated voltage - get the big box and work with the internal filter toggleĬoloccia Id (hugely powerful EQ - can be more or much less transparent, a favorite) ![]() Joe Gore Cult (full disclosure I'm selling mine but sincerely love it) You have lots of (maybe too many?) options. I'm not sure that we're going to get there with logic. You may just need to try several pedals in the neighborhood. ![]()
